The Gallery's Education Programs offer students the opportunity to engage directly with works of art through a dynamic, changing exhibition program. Students will extend their visual literacy and art-making skills by actively participating in art educator-led tours and hands-on workshops individually tailored to their learning needs.
EXCURSION OPTIONS - Preschool and Primary
Art Detectives in the Sculpture Terrace
Let's go outside to look at the sculptures and feel their patterns, shapes and textures. We will search for the snake; lizard and fish carved into the totem poles and smell the edible plants in the Bush Tucker Garden. In the art room, we will explore soft materials, feathers and string to make a fanciful, sculptural bird.
Patterns, Signs and Symbols in the Sculpture Terrace
Let's look at contemporary sculpture and think about how artists make work, their cultures and histories. Let's think about the symbols and patterns in Warwick Keen's totem poles and work with cardboard, paint, markers and tape to produce a totem of our own.
Stages 1- 2
Cross Curriculum Priorities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures
Australian Landscapes Up Close
Let's look closely at landscape paintings and imagine artists from the past. Let's take these ideas and explore different landscape drawing techniques in the park.
